Side-by-side visualization for overlapping tasks

It would be helpful to have multiple bars along the side of diff colors that better show when tasks overlap. I would like to be able to block out the time I’m at work and be able to see a bar showing that block as well as see a bar for overlapping tasks like if I’m in an hour long meeting while at work. The way it is now, the bars overlap but are the same color so it makes it confusing to tell if tasks in the afternoon will end up going past the end of my work day. I feel like this would just be a minor tweek. But over all, I’m appreciating this app so far.

I agree, more realistic proportions showing the time between tasks would be so great! But, additionally, there could be an option when creating a new task that it is a “background” task. For instance, I like to show “work“ as a scheduled task, but I don’t need it to be in the foreground. Instead, there could be an option to put it in the background, so the option would say, “this task is background / will not notify you as overlapping with other tasks” …for example.

I would love it if there's a way to mark some tasks as "background" for time blocking - like I have a big project working task all morning for 3 hours but in the middle I have "finish my first water bottle" for 1 minute, logically for my brain it would be good to have the "work block" task covering the whole time as a background block with the finish bottle task as a mini check off 1 min task in the middle.

We've already tried a lot of different but nothing quite worked until now. We will certainly keep trying.

Thinner side by side bars for overlapping tasks would be so great!

Yes I would like this too so that I can schedule like my kids appointments where I can drop them off to something but I can go do my own tasks or to be able to put them in seperate for if partner has a work thing. So it’s something I need to know but isn’t exclusive to that time period.

This for me too. I like to have my daughter’s preschool times on the calendar, but then any tasks I schedule for myself during that time are hard to see bc they look like the are after her school time.

I completely agree with this. Overlapping thin bars on the left side rather than intertwining two tasks and making it very unclear where/how much they overlap. It ruins both tasks rather than helping me see what changes need to be made, or if it’s simply fine for both tasks to happen at the same time.

Yes! I am on a 5 hour bus ride now, and I’d like to see my tasks during the bus ride show up correctly. I’m not sure why overlapping events arent shown as overlapping. It’s confusing to look at.

The current UI for this is very misleading. It's the main thing that's made me go back to using Calendar.

Not understandable to me this QoL update is not prioritized higher, it’s a basic functionality which is not an option, but a must. Without this, the app is limited in visualizing the daily planning and thus really limited in its whole selling point.

Agreed. It would be helpful to "block out" time that you can mark as being free but be able to include tasks beside them or within that block. For example, If I have office work set for 4 hours, then within that same block I can put read/review emails 30 minutes, review employee applications an hour, presentation prep for 45 min, etc. Almost as if you were "double booking.
