Rather than having an event that requires a time and length, could we just have a reminder section for small tasks, such as, call my sister to wish happy birthday or remember to apply face mask, or call mum about the weekend. They arent structured tasks as such as they can be done at anytime of the day. But I do need to be able to have a slot for them and also perhaps an alert

    You can simply create all-day tasks. You can also set up individual reminders / alerts for all-day tasks. You can learn more about all-day tasks here.
