New Task Editor Feedback

The 4.3.3 update is available now. With this update, we’re already addressing some feedback while still improving the editor for future updates:

• Cutoff task and subtask titles and notes: Task and subtask titles, as well as notes, are fully readable again.

• Make URLs clickable again: We’ve resolved the issue with URLs in notes not being clickable anymore.

• More customization for task creation: We’ve added greater flexibility to the task editor when creating tasks, allowing for more customization, for example, adjusting task duration.

• Task duplication from inbox: We’ve adjusted the logic behind duplicating tasks from your inbox for a smoother user experience.

We hear your input and are therefore already working on an update that addresses some of your feedback. The update will probably be released by the beginning of next week and includes the following optimizations:

• Cutoff task and subtask titles and notes: In the upcoming update, task and subtask titles, as well as notes, will be fully readable again. This way, you’ll always see your content clearly.

• Make URLs clickable again: We’ve also resolved the issue with URLs in notes not being clickable anymore.

• More customization for task creation: We’ve added greater flexibility to the task editor when creating tasks, allowing for more customization, for example, adjusting task duration.

Moreover, we're considering your feedback regarding checking subtasks and notes in the task editor, the editor taking up the entire screen, and the extra steps required for customization. To ensure a proper implementation, we’re discussing the next steps with our UI/UX designers.

Please change it back. Too much uncessary tapping to access editting tools that were previously all available on one screen. Not a fan of this update.

I’m not a fan of this update. In addition to a few added details I don’t really care for, now when you click on a task or add a task it takes up your entire screen and the interface is more complicated to navigate than before, was better before. Also, when switching between days/tasks it seems that timeline view is easier to trigger even if that’s not what I was trying to do.

Is there a way to revert back to previous version or disable these features?

This is really disappointing. Not sure if I’ll be renewing.

Please reverse the new task editor. Everything is so much harder now, especially subtasks.

I DESPISE that tasks open directly into edit mode. I mostly use this app because I love the subtasks feature. Going straight to edit when all I’m trying to do is tick off subtasks is completely awful. I keep deleting subtasks or accidentally editing the wording of it.

I like the layout for editing; it is streamlined and convenient. However, I might move to a different app because of the annoyance of opening straight to edit. At least offer it as an option, to have to select edit to get there. I have ADHD, the extra input is overwhelming when I just want to tick off subtasks or see what notes I have listed. Overwhelming to the point of making it unbearable for me to use.

I’ve been a log time user of Structured since it came it — very unique and intuitive design for the timeline view.

However, with the latest change of making the tasks immediately enter into Edit mode, I find this has taken a step backwards in usability.

• Previously, when you click a task, it let you check off your sub tasks and see the full subtask text (wrapped around if it ran long) without any risk of modifying that task or subtask for future days

• Now it goes directly into "Edit Mode" and if you for example delete a subtask or modify anything and click the Check Box it modifies it for all future tasks.

• I believe most users will want to view and check off subtasks more often than actually “change” the task itself (e.g. delete task or modify subtasks) and mashing the 2 together makes usage worse

Is there a possibility to allow users to revert to the old method of using tasks / subtasks with a toggle? Or at the very least make the latest change usable by wrapping the subtask items so they’re visible and don’t just scroll off the screen.

I understand the need to try new things but it should be balanced against usability and a with a perspective of how end users are currently doing things.

It’s great you have this “featurebase” to track changes and gather input. I’ll explore the site but I’m curious, is this change something a lot of users have asked for? I also acknowledge that I may be a minority in the way I use things but I have a feeling I’m not 😊.

I am a strong advocate and long time user of this app and I must say that I have to agree with the other comments that the new task editor is completely unintuitive from the previous design. While I operate under the impression that new interfaces take time to understand, I truly believe this update has been a downgrade from the previous editor. I find that I have to click through more screens, scroll through more options, and overall search more than I had previously. It is also much more difficult to manage subtasks and all-day tasks specifically.

The last edit screen had all of my event customizing options in an easy, one screen flow, in an intuition order (icon and title, date and time, recurrence, color, notes).

Please either revert or spend more time refining this editor. I truly truly love this app and do not ever wish to lose its wonderful qualities, but the new editor screen has been incredibly frustrating. Thank you so much to this team for all you do!!

My two favorite things about this app are the ability to see my future tasks at a glance with the different symbols and color coding, and the fact that the task/event editor was not multiple pages and did not require opening layers of menus to edit the task. I was okay with naming the task and adding it’s info being two separate pages, but now there is a third page that I don’t see the usefulness of. Having to hit “continue” and input information in a specific order is annoying, and I much preferred being able to scroll through the whole editor menu and make changes in the order I wanted to. Previously, you could set a task to repeat daily/weekly/monthly/yearly by tapping one button in an unobtrusive section of the editor, now you have to open the repeat menu, which takes up the same amount of space as the old menu that didn’t need to be opened. The meatball menu with the ability to change day, timezone, adjust time, make all day, add to the inbox instead, etc is now hidden inside the duration menu, which meant it took several minutes of searching for me to find. Even if I am not trying to do any sort of advanced settings when setting up a task, I still have to hit far more buttons in the process now than before, which makes using this app less convenient. Considering how often I make use of the more advanced settings for tasks, having to open and navigate more menus is very annoying.

I really like that you can now change the color of a task from the icon menu.
