Completing all sub tasks should complete the main task also

If a task has subtasks, when you complete all the subtasks this should automatically complete the main task. Did this used to happen and was changed or has the subtasks always been unlinked to completion of the main task. I can understand completing the main task not completing all subtasks as they may not all have been done but I think the first one can at least apply
