There is currently no single/few click method of adding unscheduled tasks to the Inbox from the main screen of the current Mac OS app. The only option is the green + button which defaults to a scheduled Timeline task (as it probably should) and requires 4+ clicks to add an Inbox Task.
Suggestion: Add a simple link/button at the bottom of the list of Inbox Tasks for “Add New Task”. Fuctionality should be extremely simple: Click Add link > Enter task text > Save
Then task is rapidly captured, then can be organized onto timeline like any other task.
Alternate suggestion: default the existing green + button to Inbox task and require the additional clicks to schedule it to Timeline. In practice, most users will likely add to Inbox then drag to schedule it more quickly like other Inbox tasks.
