The drag-and-drop feature is a real game changer, allowing us to adjust schedules on the fly without endless clicking. However, it's extremely difficult to place tasks where you want them to go. On average I'd say it takes me 2-3 tries to get the time right when I reorder a task, and I'm constantly reordering things throughout the day so this really adds up.
It feels like the game Operation where you have to be surgically careful to get it right. This adds so much friction to the core experience.
Without intending to, I frequently:
drop things so they overlap
drop things with breaks in between of 5-15 minutes
I'm trying to figure out WHY it's so hard, and I think it's the inconsistency of the visual feedback. The thing you see when you're dragging and hovering is not the same thing you see when you drop it. The only real way to know where an event will end up is by carefully reading the timestamps on the left side of the timeline. For example:
If you drag something so that it has a tiny gap between the two pills (like it does when there is no break between tasks in the timeline) it'll leave a gap of 5-15 minutes
I eventually figured out that if you perfectly line up the pills so they touch, that will put event B after event A with no gaps. But as soon as you drop it, a space emerges between the pills: visually inconsistent
To have events back to back with no gaps, sometimes you have to drag and drop the event in such a way that it LOOKS like there's going to be a big gap. I just did this and had to leave a gap that was bigger than either of the events, just to get them to be back to back
